Huawei P8 Camera Test

Huawei was known so far not for superior photo quality. The powerful camera that changes in the new flagship of P8.

While the sensor size 1/2.3 inch corresponds to the Smartphone standard, Huawei open especially wide the aperture the camera of the P8 (f2. 0), so plenty of light hits the sensor. In addition an optical image stabilizer, which compensates Verwackler during long exposure times. The auto focus reacts very quickly and the shutter lag is hardly noticeable.

This combination makes the P8 to one of the brightest cameras in our testing field – even in difficult light conditions such as dusk or at a live concert, the shots are still sharp and relatively low noise. 13 megapixels, the resolution is well chosen: it is high enough to represent details of enlarged motifs, but at the same time so low that each pixel has still enough space on the sensor to capture plenty of light. Much to criticize doesn’t exist here down to the fact that the balance between ISO and exposure time is not optimal: photos are lightened in strong external light too much.

The iPhone greets

The entire user interface is closely reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone, also the camera menu. However, you have more options at Huawei, if not quite as extensive as at the HTC one M9.

Huawei also not succeed so intuitively accessible to make settings such as HTC – who wants to screwing the ISO value or the contrasts, needs one or two finger tips more. Videos, HTC also offers more, the P8 creates iPhone as the only full-HD 1920 x 1080 pixels, which is certainly enough many users.

Paint with light

Huawei has still an ACE up its sleeve: for a longer exposure, you can track in real time in the camera preview, as changed and even decide the image in the course of time, when the right time has come to complete the recording. This enables creative freedom, you can play around with the headlights of passing cars. “Light painting” called this mode because even very true Huawei.
