Skill Definition and Meaning
Skill is the ability that a person has to exercise a certain activity.
Skill derives from the Latin habilitatis that indicates the skillful quality. Skillful, in turn, has its origin in Latin habilis whose initial meaning referred to the skills that someone can acquire. Then, the meaning evolved to mean a person with diverse abilities.
We can find the following words among skill synonyms: ability, skill, talent, aptitude, competence, intelligence. Antonyms of ability we can find: clumsiness, disability, incompetence, ineptitude.
There are different types of ability depending on the area to which it refers, such as:
The types of personal skills, also called basic skills are those skills and aptitudes that characterize human beings from other living beings. Some types of skills that can be included in the personal sphere are:
- Visual skills,
- Language skills,
- Logical and mathematical ability,
- Motor skills.
Social skills are those that help a better coexistence. Associated with emotional intelligence, it also requires an understanding of the social conventions of each society. Some social skills are, for example:

Physical skills are those capabilities associated with strength, flexibility, speed and endurance of the body.
Job skills, also called job skills, refer to a set of skills needed for a specific job or required in a job market. Some of them are:
